MPA Precast Drainage Technical Guide includes information and advice on hydraulic design, structural design and installation of precast concrete drainage systems.

It includes the latest industry Specification and Standards. There are numerous references within the document to give more detailed information on specific issues.

Precast concrete pipeline systems are the UK’s choice for drainage and sewer solutions. With the inherent benefits of concrete in terms of cost, strength, inertia and durability, precast systems are the preferred choice with a design life in excess of 100 years. Concrete drainage units manufactured in accordance with BS EN 1916 and BS EN 1917 are suitable for slightly aggressive chemical ground conditions. In the UK, some soils are more aggressive in nature. As a safeguard, the provision of a concrete suitable for ACEC AC-4 conditions as described in Building Research Establishment Special Digest 1 2005 is specified. The preferred method to achieve AC-4 for a 100 year intended working life is the use of a DC-4 concrete with surface carbonation (i.e. precast concrete) without the need for additional protective measures.
